Our Story

My reason for doing this is that I have a 2 year old daughter called Temi who was born when I was only 6 months pregnant. She was just under 2lbs in weight and due to her extreme prematurity her liver, kidneys and heart were under developed and she wasn’t producing red blood cells properly, which led to her being extremely anaemic and having to have many blood transfusions. She had a heart murmur and was being tube fed while trying to get her to tolerate milk and antibiotics as her immune system was non resistant. All of these things led to her long term hospitalisation and were very hard to deal with but the hardest blow came when at 6mnths old she suffered a brain haemorrhage from a weak archery in her Brain, she had 3 bleeds (or mini Haemorrhages) after this until they advised that she would not walk/talk and could be severely brain damaged. They advised that one more bleed and she would never ever have any chance or any sort of recovery ,if even she survived. The hospital brought a surgeon from Uk to try and operate and he advised, as did the Cardiologist that they wouldn’t take the risk.

Instead they started my daughter on medications from USA and these medications would insulate and strengthen veins and archery’s in the brain and body. Because it worked to insulated and tighten archery’s, it meant that it would avoid another brain haemorrhage however she was at risk of hypothermia and a heart attack as the medications resulted in dangerously low blood pressure for her, they even advised they could cause a stroke. During this critical time she was a patient in Crumlin children’s hospital and I also had to stay there with her in the parents accommodation. I came to meet with many wonderful people staying there however unfortunately about 50% of the parents that were there watching their children dying, came home without their child.

My daughter did tolerate medications and is now living day to day healthy, she can walk, talk even shout and has no signs of brain damage at all, however she could suffer a bleed at any time even from a fall at home so she needs a 24hour carer. She was attending Limerick regional hospital on a daily basis to have her heart monitored until last august and Crumlin monthly. I’m one of the lucky parents that will see my child grow up, but there are so many parents that don’t, and they need to be accommodated and helped while their kids are critically or terminally ill. We have now opened a charity shop that will donate to these charities and help these people in times that I hope most people will never have to understand. I hope people will enjoy shopping with us and will donate any 2nd hand clothes in good condition that they don’t want to us also so that we can resell them and put the finances towards bringing smiles and fun to family’s suffering so much in this short life. We can all help in some way or another.

I sincerely appreciate your time in reading this
